Cost Anomaly Detection Settings
Tune how sensitive the scanner is when looking for cost anomalies, so the Anomalies page and dashboard widget surface only changes that matter for your environment. Open Settings > Scanner from the left sidebar, then expand the Cost Anomaly Detection card.

Changes take effect on the next scan
Saved thresholds apply during the next scan, not retroactively. Existing anomalies are not re-evaluated until the scanner runs again. Wait for the next scheduled scan or trigger a manual scan to see the effect.
Fields
- Minimum Change %
- The smallest percent change the scanner will flag as an anomaly. Range 0.1 to 100. Hover the info icon for inline help: a value of 5 means a 5% change or greater is required.
- Minimum Dollar Change
- The smallest absolute dollar change the scanner will flag. Range 0.01 or greater. Helps filter out noise from very small cost fluctuations on cheap resources.
Both thresholds must be exceeded
An anomaly must clear both the percent and dollar thresholds to be flagged. Setting Minimum Dollar Change to a non-zero value is the easiest way to suppress noise from low-cost resources without losing visibility into significant changes.
Actions
- Reset to Defaults
- Restores both fields to the defaults locally. Click Save Changes afterwards to commit.
- Save Changes
- Writes the new thresholds. After a successful save, an inline confirmation appears and dismisses on its own.
Behavior
The 90-day analysis window is fixed
Only the percent and dollar thresholds are configurable here. The scanner always analyzes the last 90 days of cost history when identifying a resource's normal pattern, this window cannot be changed.
Scanner thresholds are the floor
The Anomalies page can apply tighter thresholds on top of the scanner thresholds, but never looser ones. To see anomalies smaller than the scanner threshold, you must lower the scanner threshold here and wait for the next scan.
Permissions
A role with write access to scanner settings is required to save changes. Users with read-only access to scanner settings can view the values but the inputs and Save Changes button are disabled with an explanatory tooltip.
Troubleshooting
I saved new thresholds but anomalies haven't changed
Thresholds apply on the next scan
Threshold changes take effect during the next scan, not retroactively. Wait for the next scheduled scan or trigger a manual scan from Scan Overview.
Save Changes is grayed out
Three possible reasons
- Nothing has changed since the last save.
- A validation error is active on one of the inputs (look for red text below the field).
- Your role does not include write access to scanner settings.
